I’d rather see the final work and then come back to watch the sausage making. You know, as a long time comic book reader I really enjoyed the idea of finally not knowing what I’m about to read next.
If the designs and world building help us hit the ground running with the comics, I’m game. If they somewhat spoils the story, I still want to read all about it, only afterwards. Regardless of where these guys decide to land, though, this has been a great experience.
Yeah, that’s the point. I HOPE the architecture designs speak to the character of the economic structure in an almost spoilery fashion, but as we saw with “the house on the lake” with “Vah-lar”, there was so much more to unpack that we could never see in the image. That’s the benefit of having a writer like Jonathan at the helm. I believe the format they’ve created is working brilliantly and will seem even more like genius once the comics start rolling out. It’s just my opinion though. I’ve been on board since 8/10/21 (I think).
I read this and other process for Duels 1 after reading the Comic.
I did read the Economic breakdowns before.
I enjoy development backstory, but enjoy the pure rush of being pulled into an unfamiliar world and time.
The way you’ve titled the posts feels effective for supporting this CYOA journey. The foreword with mention of spoilers is nice if one begins to venture too deep.
My preference would be Process first. Almost always process is looked at after but seeing it before the final work would feel quite special and unique for subscribers!
YES!!!!! I don’t get spoiled easily. I think very deeply. Lol! I am so happy you guys are starting with DUELS & DUDES! Lol! Excited to see what the Mikes create! I have a lot of questions in my head but I will wait to have as many answered each step of the way before I ask anything! Best of luck!

You make a very valid point about being surprised. I just think this is a rare opportunity. I’m surprised every step of the way and love this process.

How do you decide which landscapes need designing and which you can just define once you start drawing the comic?

I love this whole creation project breakdown thing. I can't wait to see more.
And I don’t know about you all, but I have yet to master the discipline to read a spoiler warning and stop reading.
Images First, Process Second, Story Third.
Super! So that’s what a token is for..
