Intriguing. Perhaps the rock at Vallar is dormant until the ascendency of the magic cycle. Whatever properties or values emerge could put our first family at odds with the Institute or poised to play a major role in the new three-world-order.
More musings. In Spanish, confirmed by a Spanish-speaking fellow member of the Discord, "vallar" means "to fence," as in fence something in. So the idea of containing and/or protecting (mmm, duality) the Rock. No idea if this is a consideration or intent in choosing the name, but interesting even if it's happenstance of meaning after the fact. And our Doctor Tajo R. Vallar, with the family/location name... I keep thinking about his middle initial and then realized, Oh, well, it's for "Rock." :D I mean, I'm half joking. But, "Father, Family Man, Institute Man, Pro Wrestler-Turned-Action Star!" (Gotta leave room for a little irreverence along with the serious speculation/theorizing, right? :D ) Another really interesting update that gets the thoughts spinning and keeps the excitement flowing.
Unfortunately, I will be canceling my subscription. I came here expecting comics from beloved creators. However, a month later, we only got a comic with a few pages that I found really underwhelming and loads of behind-the-scenes stuff about things I do not yet care about.
For 8 bucks I would expect at least two standard issues of comics worth of storytelling and art. I honestly feel kinda cheated and believe my money will be better spend on more traditional publications.
Hmm... the landing almost sounds like two opposing forces. But that would imply the same unknown composition was already at the impact site. Almost like an ancient landing pad!
And hundreds of years of fruitless analysis! I wonder if its related to Kaos? Super cool.
Oh, and go ahead and throw a ghost town in there too.
"some say it’s from early scans and analysis of its elemental makeup [Va][L][La][R], others say the surrounding area still resonated from the impact and this sound was the name, some even say it came from a shared dream"
It really shows the two sides of this universe (order/chaos, magic/science) at work. The start of the institute would be zealously naming precious objects scientifically, but the world at large is just coming off of a Lovecraft fever dream of a magic cycle... So to them it is all about shared dreams, demonic sounds, and the ilk.
Idk if this was intentional, but it's fun to speculate on new universes!
So, one thing I find refreshing and humorous. A lot of Hickman's work I've been reading lately has a handful of pages throughout an issue that will give a large narrative to whatever Hickman is writing. The X universe went with this direction throughout the various titles. Does anybody else feel these articles/updates on this site read like those pages???????? I was chuckling to myself about it. Not a criticism at all. Feel like I'm reading a Hickman comic! Hahahahaha
Awesome stuff all round! Love the rock illustrations. The cut-through kind of reminds me of a modernist version of these amazing illustrations in this kids book I used to have. (Just looked it up: Stephen Biesty's Incredible Cross Sections by DK) Also, thanks for providing a recording as well as a transcript of the Morrison interview. They'll be hugely appreciated in the 3W/3M community. Thanks for doing what you're doing guys.
Also i am, like many others i'm sure, really happy about the update on the interview. I had a good time and always enjoy those one on one with my favorite creators but a cleaner version of it all is necessary. Thank you for the update.
I really like this. I find the idea of the decaying and slowly abandoned remote Research Town centered on a massive alien rock to be very "romantic" dystopian setting.

So glad theres a recording and transcript!
I love how these maps, charts, and graphs tease a whole lot of information while also leaving gaping holes to fill with stories.

Best of luck to the project, though!

This is extremely my sh*t.
I really liked these lines:

What a unique concept for this main character’s background. I think the whole idea is great.

Oh, I love getting this background after the first strip. Fascinated.

now we're cooking
One of my favorite posts so far. The family and world is getting so fleshed out and always appreciate a nice sectional drawing
