Hi Mike! Do you start designs for these with a full script in hand? Or is it a rough outline of the story or as little as a list of characters/concepts? Did you and Mike talk in advance about the designs or did you each do your own thing and then meld the two sets together towards the end of the design process? Or is Andy really doing the final blending of the concepts?

Hi Wilson! Usually it's a full script. Occasionally we 'll get a script without final dialogue (which really we don't need) but it's still complete enough for us to know what we need to design. Mike and I work together pretty organically... sometimes we retreat to our corners and make our designs and show up with finished pieces, and others we talk during the process and will pick up details or themes from each other to tie our designs together. "Yes!" to your last question. No matter what Mike and I create it's going to be interpreted through the work of the artist drawing that story, so they do the final merging of all these ideas.

Man, this is very exciting as I love Kuhn's work and the behind the scenes summary above makes you want to read it. Plus, cangues!

To see how much you artists can build with just a few lines of script is such a fun contrast. Creativity at its best.
