So this is all definitely a lot to take in and -in true college student fashion - I decided to take notes. Notes which I want to share with all of you, not just for the sake of keeping track of everything, but also as a place to update information and everything. This is not meant to take the place of the comments, as I love the comment interaction, but more of a way to keep track of everything that's going on in this wild, new universe our beloved creators are building. I'll post the link here; everyone is welcome to edit and add whatever they feel is relevant as the universe continues to evolve.

I think it would be very cool if in the future you did like a "science book" of every animal, plant, fungi and other livinh beings. It could explain some interactions and how they environment works in each planet moon. It could be a mini series of "encyclopedias" of this universe. One for magic and speels, other for technologie, religions, weapons.
I really like those small information books and with the amazing art of your team it could really bem something special.
That would be cool! Based on all the ideas we’ve been working with we’ll probably be headed that way. Maybe even like an information poster that you see around parks that show the wildlife that belong in that area. Thanks!
Extra information like that does a lot to make the world feel more complete, love it! Would be cool to see same location but from different eras if the ecology changes. Fun chance to come up with some species that may or may not ever show up in the comic
We have a lot of ideas for what kind of collections we're going to be doing. A lot of this is going to be based on how much we want to mix comics and other stuff.
This idea reminds me of what Rucka and the rest of the crew are doing with the Lazarus Sourcebooks (minus the tabletop RPG elements) that supplement those comics. Gives an opportunity for other writers and artists to tell stories in that world. But a more "encyclopedia" take on it might fit this universe better, so cool thought.
Wow, I totally forgot about the pollen thing. That might be a problem in this book if he has tree allergies lol but I’m glad you pointed that out, I’m gonna take that in for my next round of sketches. Nod to the blood oranges!
Damnnn that would be insane. Maybe the sibling has no soul so he’s just a prop to get the father through the absence of his kids. Something like Tom Hanks and his volleyball in castaway.
Really like that idea ahahah he could upgrade the sibling until he starts to believe that it is really is son and when he finally meets his real son he can't accept that the seed isn't real. Then in the end of that storyline he accepts that the seed isnt real but in the last panel we see the father talking to ir again ahahah. Sry just got carried away. Really like those comments

I like the idea of there being a symbiotic nature to Tajo's evolving suit, especially if he's incorporating plant life. Like, the plants are getting resources and information from Vallar, and Vallar is getting information as well as life-sustaining resources/properties from the plants. Plus, it could always lead to some fun stuff assuming the plan is still in communication with its environment. The plant learns more about how the Institute plans to silence "magic" and find a way to alert the environment to strike back on any teams that attempt to explore more. Could be something interesting there, could not, up to Mike, Mike, and Jonathan.
This is so cool. It reminded me a little of the annihilation book, where they have military expeditions to a inhospitable area. There the environment changes the living lifes, almost like a parasite. Here the suit change to help him, is another thing, but these hostile environment can make a sense of horror, so nice!
How do you keep track of all your original (and emerging) history plots? A few years ago I stumbled upon an article about the "Levitz Paradigm", on how Paul Levitz organized all his plots and subplots during his Legion of Super-Heroes run. I liked it so much that to this day that's how I deal with all my tasks and projects, both personal and professional (I deal in finance, but If you take that life, just as a comic book, is about consecutive neverending stacking plots, you can see my point). Anyway, as a fan of Hickman's hyperstructured work I can't help but wonder how I could improve my ways by learning a few new tricks. That'd be a post I'd love to read about!
I tend to write everything down or keep some kind of detailed notes. It's probably also not a surprise that I do a lot of idea mapping, diagrams and flowcharts of how things connect to each other. One of the biggest thing you need to do when working on serialized stuff is re-read your own stuff (don't trust your memory of it) and it's kind of surprising how much that unlocks as well. This works kind of like mining your own continuity.
Zac, between some things touched upon in X-comics, and now THIS, I have been thinking/relating right back to the fungal networks and I Breathed a Body.
I have a question. I am paying the annual fee but in the monthly installment plan so am I qualified to see the conversation between Jonathan Hickman and Grant Morrison? Because I didn't receive any emails from you guys other than the notification about multiple emails and posts coming up this week. And I know that I should qualify because I signed up the first day for this Substack.
And yes I did check my spam folder and there was nothing there. So I'm just wondering if I qualify to watch the conversation between Mr.Hickman and Mr.Morrison or is that only for the people who paid the whole annual fee up front? Pretty cool process from Mr.Del Mundo, by the way 🖖!
The emails for how to connect to the interview are going out Thursday (I think). The technical guys are running through a test on Wednesday to make sure everything is working correctly on the platform. Let me have our guy check on the other thing to see what number you were.
The information storage aspect, oh, yes. I love the hints that this will expand even further upon machine tech vs organic tech, and then the tech/magic duality also. What happens with machine + magic, what happens with organic + magic... and both forms of information repository. Or in this case, repositree. :D
At what point might the tree/organic tech become... either symbiotic or parasitic? And how does this impact his transformation from Institute Man to Academic, so to speak?
Plus, I had an interesting semantic thought what with this being a period of science-ascendant (albeit in collapse) -- where science is the Institution = establishment, and magic is represented by an Academy - place of learning. Establishment vs education. Stasis/stagnation vs change/evolution. One is, well, death, and the other is life, to mildly paraphrase...
Of course the establishment always wants to stay in power, and the new ideas being disseminated are dangerous seeds...

Thanks for sharing Brandon, going to also put this in the discord. Welcome to join if not there already! Link is in the about section
Thanks! Just joined, and I'm super excited to be there!
Feels like a Fandom in the making!

Yes and we could see the species adaptations to the science and magic cycles and how they evolved

What kind of fruit does a blood vessel tree have?
Blood Oranges! Jokes.
Love the idea of the vessel tree increasing as needed. THE VESSEL CAPE! Very cool.
Does the vessel tree produce a seed, pollen or fruit?

Ah god, if the bio suit can drop a seed and grow a uh, sibling?, for the kid in the first comic. that would be a lot.
Damnnn that would be insane. Maybe the sibling has no soul so he’s just a prop to get the father through the absence of his kids. Something like Tom Hanks and his volleyball in castaway.

Beautiful... and disgusting

Yeaaaahhh that’s cool!
Symbiotic/parasitic seems likely
You consistently blow me away with every post!

I can't wait to see the final rendition of the living tree cape. It's gonna look so good.
The blood vessel foliage speaks to me on a primal level.
Zac, between some things touched upon in X-comics, and now THIS, I have been thinking/relating right back to the fungal networks and I Breathed a Body.
There's definitely something weird in the air. Like we're all inhaling the same spores or something. :D
"it's all going according to plants" - me on Ayahuasca/shrooms
Cool, so Vallar is essentially doing his version of The Martian?
Is breathing the major challenge or will other aspects also come to play? (e.g. is the moon's water potable/plants edible/etc)
I love seeing this process unfold.
Very cool

"Not bad." -- Dr. Vallar
The back and forth between artist and writer looks like so much fun.
That suit is the coolest.
