What a thrill it’ll be to see the final works in print! [THE COMPETITION] has got to be one of the most unusual events in comics. Kudos again to the whole 3W3M team for making this happen, and to the winners for making it to the podium!

This is so exciting! I had been thinking about The Competition just recently, wondering if the winners' comics had been published and I'd just missed an update... and here's the update I didn't miss! I still think this is an incredible thing for 3W3M to have done and be doing - I'm thrilled to remain a Circle member and see these in print down the road!

“Volume 1” is a very exciting thing to see on that cover!

Is this another story that only The Circle is guaranteed to get a print copy? The Circle is too expensive and I vastly prefer reading comics physically. More and more it seems like the lower paid tier isn't worth it.

The rewards for our annual tier are exactly what they were in year one and two, including a 200-page prestige softcover. That's the most generous print reward for a substack that we're aware of!

I am realizing every time a new story is announced, I have spent $240 dollars for three books (which are cool). But I really prefer physical, longer form comics and the copies of the non-Sourcebooks I have were all extra purchases. I wouldn't have bought the Sourcebooks at $80 dollars each if I saw them at a comic shop, so I have to figure out if the difference of what I paid is worth it just to see behind the scenes. Reading digitally is just okay and not how I prefer to read (maybe the upcoming app will be a better experience?). I really enjoy taking comics to a coffee shop and reading for a couple hours. I enjoy that tangible experience. I haven't even read ACADEMY or LEGENDS vol 1.

I think my perception is that at the end of the day, I am not following any comics from 3W3M, I am just reading email updates about things I won't even get and will have to buy extra.

I do see that the previous non-Sourcebooks are still available on EMPORIA, so hopefully there are still copies available by the time they are made available to non-Circle members.

Understood, not everything is for everyone. We appreciate your support so far!

My understanding of this project is that we are providing funding to the creators to do the creative work (like a traditional publisher) and the rewards are less of the cost.

This is the right way to think of it, but we do try to make the Rewards packages reasonably comparable. For instance, last year's annual tier was the softcover sourcebook (which we sell for 40; 30 discounted to members) and 2 prints (we charge 20 per print on Emporia).

For The Circle, we charged $250; the deluxe HC with Signature we value at $85 (70 unsigned, 60 discounted to members), 6 signed prints (valued at 30 each), and 2 rare variant comics (20 each), not to mention the compass!

I appreciate seeing it laid out like this. After thinking about it, I don't think I realized that the Annual tier was only intended to have print rewards for Sourcebooks (and prints). I think my confusion stems from signing up before there were a lot of non-Sourcebooks. I'll adjust my expectations going forward!

Yeah, I understand the experimental nature of the project. The unique world and its stories is what piqued my interest, but the physical rewards is what got me to subscribe. It's not that I am intentionally avoiding the digital comics. I have naturally not incorporated them into my reading habit. Which represents to me this may not be worth it.

I wonder what my physical reward will be for Year 4 if this 3rd Sourcebook will be the last. Hopefully they announce something physical for the Annual tier, otherwise I will be funding something that I don't engage in.
