I had a great time at C2E2, it was a lot of fun to meet not just the 3W3M team but also other Founders too! I can't wait for another opportunity to do something like the Meet and Greet again. That Sourcebook turned out incredible too, my expectations were high going in and I think they were exceeded.
One thing I think the team should bring to future cons are stacks of QR code stickers to give away with the 3W3M logo in the middle that direct people to a landing page for the Substack. I think it would really help bring in people passing by the booth (or a sticker planted in the wild) that aren't already subscribed.
QR code is a great idea. I put together a booth for my company at a true crime convention and the con producers’ number one recommendation for exhibitors was to put QR codes at the booth and in any print ads in the program.
Steve - If you wanted to do this, Canva.com has a QR code generator as part of their design software and this website for printing buttons and stickers is pretty turnkey and has quick turnaround. https://www.stickermule.com/

3 UP 3 DOWN!!!
Umm, yeah. Soooo…ok! HA! There’s a lot to unpack here. Lol! C2E2 was definitely sublime & emotional. That picture of Skottie & Stephen got me hype and I have yet to chill with them together. The team chemistry is off the chain. The softcover sourcebook is a winner and looks amazing which means we as Founders have already won and will continue to be ahead before the next life cycle so chill out and enjoy the sublime! Lol!
The X-Men do not suck (anymore). Ha! There was a moment in different eras where they did. I can’t be too specific yet because my life insurance may lapse for a week or two, but the image of Scott Summers in speedos is traumatic for me. Lol! Why?!? IJS!
If you guys ever need a spokesman or a podcast co-host to bounce off of Stephen, I’m 99% down. CJ at your service! I may need an exit strategy if Stephen starts talking comparables & playing the Wizard of Oz in Pop Culture reference debates. Lol! J/K We love the children! 😎✊🏿
I can’t make Seattle and refuse to buy scalped tix so I may only see you guys at the NYC Meet & Greet, if that. You gotta love my city! Smfh! Jonathan, if you make it to NYC please don't be mad if I ask you to sign a few books over a few beers. Pleeeeease!
The idea of cheating death and using knowledge from said “game fixing” is every person worth living’s biggest temptation! How it affects different characters is too good to pass on. Yes please!
Lastly, I have yet to find a Discord that doesn’t have a self important asshole somewhere in the chain of authority that makes the experience questionable. I really hope 3W3M takes the time to do that right because it would be enhance what we’ve already started here 100 fold, if done with care. Yes, please.
I felt the love and camaraderie at Fat Pour in Chicago and want more of it in my life! You guys are legendary; and that goes to the first 100 and beyond too! Nick knows what I’m talking ‘bout! Yes, please!!!
Be well, be whole, be well Beloved. Back to the Science Lab! Holla at ya boy!
I'm generally for it though maybe not to the level of true immortality, but would life-extending technology only be available at the founder level or at annual/monthly as well?
It was disappointing that the person who started the Discord server decided to just delete it rather than hand it off to the people who were offering to mod it. I'm glad you guys are talking about starting up another. It was a small community but I have been missing being able to discuss updates with the people who were active.
I really like the idea of people who have seen both "sides" of the cycle, perspective is an incredibly powerful tool. As Tobias mentioned below I'm sure that would put them in danger and I also like the idea of someone who has one identity/position/goal during one cycle but has to change it to stay alive/relevant/progressing during the other . Oooh the mystery!
When done exceptionally (ie. Frank Herbert's God Emperor of Dune), extended lifespan characters can give the writer freelance to wax philosophical on the nature of life and the history of humankind, so I am generally intrigued when an extended lifespan character is part of a story.
Two examples of long-life characters come to mind.
First is Wicked + Divine's Ananke, who similarly provided a viewpoint into the different cycles in that story. Won't say more because it will spoil the whole series.
Second is the Spacers in Isaac Asimov's Robot books. Spoilers for those 70-year old books below!
The Spacers were the people who left Earth in the initial wave of inter-planetary colonization and had much longer life spans that the people left behind on Earth. Because of those longer life spans, the Spacers preferred to work on scientific/artistic pursuits alone, as they had so much time to work on those pursuits and didn't need to stoop to getting help from other people. This ended up destroying them in the end as the shorter life spans on Earth sparked significant technological advancement and discovery because people had no choice but to collaborate. As the Robot series bridged into the Foundation series, it was the people from Earth that won and settled the galaxy whereas the Spacers faded into obscurity.
That was a long way of saying I think having long-lived characters is a good idea and there are many different perspectives/plot devices that could be implemented with these characters.
Thanks for this. I haven’t read Asimov in 30 years! Lol! I have to go back a look at that now. It’s weird how having more time doesn’t necessarily mean becoming less focused. The shorter life span could lend itself to the youthful paradigm of YOLO! Hahahaha! Either way, I agree with you!
Yeah it's been 20 years for me! I think this is touched upon most in the third Elijah Bailey/Robot book, which Asimov wrote in the 80's. Bailey is investigating the murder of one of the humanform robots, who were created by one scientist on one of the Spacer worlds and an institute(!) had formed to try to successfully design their own robots.
I'd tend to think that immortality/vastly increased lifespans make for an interesting twist — theoretically, wouldn't that also put someone in danger (at least from some factions) because of what they know and what mythology they might be able to debunk?
Hi! Do I have to do anything to get into the meet and greet at ECCC and also to pick up the sourcebook in person? Do I have to let you guys know so you can add me to some guestlist or something?
Happy birthday 3W3M! (And apologies for the delay!) I remember the excitement when I was reading these posts a year ago, and I'm even more excited now after this year passed. I wish you all (the 3W3M core crew and the Thwimmers) many more great ideas and stories, eye-popping pages and another year (and many many more years) of excitement and fun!
I love God Emperor Of Dune, specifically the perspective of thousands of years (in addition to his eons of genetic memories). I don't think it really fits with the story we're being told so far. I really enjoy the notion I get in 3W3M that the left hand isn't ever sure of what the right hand does. No one is omniscient. It's a realm rife with rivalry. Suspicion and intrigue.
Also, would the Gods allow for such omniscience? And why? I could see that being a story worth telling. But I'm curious to see how the world changes and how the culture forgets or distorts its past. I don't feel like you have to give voice to that, you can just show it and let the reader observe it.
I'm definitely interested in an extended life. I think that a longer life and true immortality are different things, one feels like just adding a few years to a clock that will run out and the other feels more like a constant in the universe.
I think an extended life span would lend a really interesting perspective to the world. An immortal being would also but I feel that there should only be very very few of these, kinda like the celestials in the Marvel Universe.
Hey team! Is there a way to update the Zoop information we submitted for physical rewards? I'm going to be moving in a few weeks and I checked the Zoop website but didn't see the option to update anything. Please let me know how I can do that!
I think the life expanding technology doesn't necessarily need to make characters overly powerful...like you mention Hob from Sandman and what I thought was interesting was how little he changed from time to time; sometimes he was rich and sometimes poor but he was basically the same guy, more or less. So I think it could work in interesting ways, depending on the angle

Yes I’d love a discord channel to chat with fellow subscribers

Hi there,
So with ECCC this weekend I have questions about the meet up.
I would rather not post them publicly. Would someone please contact me via email.

The X-Men don’t stink. How. Dare. You. ;)
