Obviously, we’re excited about this weekend.
But it’s also a great opportunity to talk about world-building, given it’s one of the most richly realized science fiction universes ever imagined. And now that we have all these different visions and interpretations of it to analyze and discuss, even better.
Why not make a thing of it?
Here’s the plan. Over the next couple weeks, we’re going to talk about everything DUNE, in depth. And this will all be for premium subscribers only and behind the paywall, so if you haven’t already done so already:
3 Worlds 3 Moons is a reader-supported initiative. Your subscription directly enables us to make more comics, hire more creators, and tell bigger and better stories. We appreciate your patronage!
We’ll do [Worlds Worth Watching] live commentary viewings like we did for Children of Men for all 3 of the following:
Jodorowsky’s Dune (Documentary) (2014)
Lynch’s Dune (1984)
And we’ll cap it all off with Villeneuve’s Dune (2021).
We figure we’ll do that one in a couple weeks, giving everyone the chance to see it themselves first at home or at theaters, and by then, hopefully you’re eager to do a rewatch with all of us.
We’ll also use this to introduce the next scope of that experiment [Worlds Worth Reading]— more details on that shortly— and a series of posts/livestreams discussing the visuals and concept art behind all of these.
We might even have some cool guests stopping by as well to join in the conversation. A full schedule for this, coming soon.
Dune? Never heard of it.
Seeing Dune tomorrow night! First time in a theater in two years and rocking it out with my most anticipated movie of the year!
