Today, the Substack team unveiled a major new feature, called NOTES. You can read all about it right here:
We’re looking forward to using this as a new way to engage with both our community and the larger world, and wanted to invite you to check it out for yourself. Here’s our first note after the launch:
So if you’ve been looking for a new feed to peruse (for whatever reason), hope to see you there.
We’ll see you back here Thursday, for the launch of THE VALLARS. Here’s one more sneak peek in the meantime…
See you then!
Ok, so Notes don't get emailed to subscribers... it's something you have to go check regularly to see if there's new content there? It sounds kind of like Substack making its own internal Twitter, in a way? Can everyone post on Notes, or just the creator team? I hope the important/big stuff will still be in posts that get an email notification! And then, uh... maybe when I see a regular post in my inbox, it'll remind me to go check if there are also any Notes I've missed in the meantime...
So right now, basically, we have: Regular posts that we get notified about by email; we have Threads (which I feel like I've gotten a couple of emails when someone starts a new Thread, but I'm not 100% sure if remembering correctly on that); and now we have Notes, which (ironically?) won't be notified at all? It's a lot of avenues for information and interaction, and I guess time will show which are the more useful/of interest to the userbase at large!
