Back once again, Thwimmers, for the most important newsletter in your “Saved For Later” box! I’m experimenting with Substack’s “Footnotes” feature in this one, so that’s exciting for all of us!
RECAP!
Last week was about recovering from our 3W3M summit and then me having to prepare a bunch of boxes of books back to our fulfillment house. (I am the king of finding the nearly invisible seam on a roll of clear packing tape!)
Last week was also about sorting through the myriad ideas that the team came up with and finding a way to fitting it all onto an already crowded Year 2 calendar (more about that in the coming weeks).
If you missed it, you can see some of what we were up to (And my off-brand orange shirt) here:
My biggest disappointment, though, is not getting pictures of our FOUNDERS meet-up. I’ve mentioned before how these have become a highlight of our conventions and the LA meet-up did not disappoint (we even had surprise guests like X-writer Gerry Duggan!).
But getting to hang with some of our readers1 and hearing your ideas of what you liked about the 3W3M experience so far and where we could improve is an incredible side-benefit of this project.
We have a wide spectrum of Thwimmers from all experiences and walks of life and I look forward to this community growing over the next few years. You all need to meet each other!
The next one is coming up in NYCC which should be our biggest event yet. Sign up or upgrade to Founders Level to make sure you’re a part of it.
Hope to see you there.
TEASE OF THE WEEK
QUESTION TIME!
Let’s get to you!
First though, a quick reminder: subscribers can leave their questions for the column in the responses.
And if you have questions about the status of the Year One rewards, we did an update in my last 3Q3A column here:
And Now… You!
Q1
Keith P. asks:
What size are the prints? I want to grab some frames for them.
A1
Each print (one from each Mike) is on thick and gorgeous 8x10 paper. They will look amazing in frames. Send in a picture to us once it’s done.
Q2
FLESHWEAVE is an absolutely disturbing gross screenname who writes:
Just out of curiosity, will original artwork be given away or available for bid/purchase (presuming it wasn't generated by computer I suppose)? How about published scripts once comics are released? These may have already been answered before, apologies if that is the case.
A2
Great questions with no need for apologies. I’m well aware no one reads my responses!
The art and design that the Mikes do are mostly done digitally. For the other artists, you’d have to contact them. Everything I receive editorially is a digital file, so I’m not always sure who is working on paper or on screens.
Offering a look at the scripts is an idea that also came up at the Founders meet-up, so we have been discussing it. I think it’s pretty likely we will do something like you suggest, though we haven’t decided when and how yet. When it does come together though, it would be offered here to our subscribers.
Q3
Arjun asks:
Is there any update on a new official discord/forum? I was sad to see the old one get shut down!
A3
I miss it too.
We will have some news in the coming weeks (possibly aligned with our announcement of Year 2 plans).
But rest assured, plans are afoot for us to have a way for the 3W3M community to talk to each other --and US-- more easily.
QUESTION FOR YOU!
The series “Chef’s Table: Pizza” just debuted on Netflix and it is wall-to-wall gorgeous pizza porn. You should watch it. Be sure to wear a bib to catch the saliva dripping from your jowls!
Pizza is a terribly personal topic for people and has caused many fights …even in my own house.
So, my question for you is simply ‘what is your favorite pizza’?
The 3W3M team likes to eat, so give us some ideas of places we should visit as the 3W3M travels to more cities over the next couple of years.
(NOTE: Any answers that say “Chicago deep dish” will be deleted and reported to the authorities. Uggh.)
HAVE YOU EVEN SEEN THIS?
If you guys haven’t been reading 3W3M contributor Ram V and artist Rafael Albuquerque’s new Detective Comics run it is off to an outstanding start. Not that Conglomerate Comics--starring Batman!-- need our help with promotion, but it has really been a highlight on the comics rack.
It’s still early in the run, so there's time to jump on it if you haven’t.
Time to wrap it up for another week. be on the lookout for more news as the week goes on.
Viva Pizza!

First of all, I don’t read anything. I look at the pictures and eat Pineapple & Pepperoni (Turkey) pizza. Don’t judge me.
"Fans" vs "readers" certainly have slightly different connotations. And I suppose there could be hate-readers (or just indifferent readers, though, why??) who aren't actually fans. But as for 3W3M, it's easy enough to circumvent that with either or both of "members" or "subscribers." Or I guess you already have us pegged as "Thwimmers." We will have to make sure to stay in thweme in the 3' shallow end of the pool, to make sure there are no drowning incidents. :P
I will admit, I took ONE photo at the Founders meetup, and it was me with Gerry. Getting to discuss the upcoming Iron Man run with him was an entirely unexpected highlight, in addition to the all-around awesomeness of the evening with the Thwim Team. By the way, did anyone (I hope) appreciate the perfection of having a 3W3M meetup at the 33 Taps? And was that the reason for the choice of venue? :D
FLESHWEAVE is indeed an inspiring screen name. Let's combine that with some pizza porn and make some real horrors. There's a place here in Long Beach (CA) called Little Coyote that a lot of people love. I have had their pizza a couple of times and enjoyed it. I think my recent favorite, though, has been from Project Barley, which I think has locations in both Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Really, really good! I will also say, my personal cardinal sin of pizza is NOT ENOUGH SAUCE. If I order extra sauce and still feel like I'm eating cheese on dry bread... it's a bad sign, and I feel like that is a trend at too many places.
DISCORD DISCORD DISCORD! :D :D
