Been another busy week here at 3W/3M HQ. My fingers are throbbing from all the typing!
We’ve not only reached a new milestone in subscriber numbers (thanks to all of you!), but I’ve been buried elbow deep in new comics headed your way as well (starting with THE JOB coming tomorrow). Plus, as you’ve read here over the past few weeks, getting our [SYSTEMS] Graphic Novel Sourcebook ready for the printers.
That last part has been a learning experience for me since my work at the Big 2 comic companies kept me at a distance from the printing details.
As the 27th best editor in comics, my job was to prepare the material and get it ready for printing. There were other people smarter than me whose job was to actually line up space and time at the printers and deal with details like paper stock and binding.
Thankfully we have the Zoop team who is around to answer my many queries. (People always say, “there are no dumb questions,” but that’s before they meet me! I am ready for any challenge!)
Anyway, none of that matters to you.
What does matter is that the 3W/3M team all along has felt that this project only works with the highest quality printing and paper, so that’s the promise we are working to fulfill.
Watch this space for more upcoming info on the book (and the request for shipping information if you are an Annual or Founding subscriber). Rest assured, you haven’t missed anything yet.
Another project bubbling in the background is our Ashcan comic featuring the Fables & Ruins stories that set us on this journey.
We’ve been working on some covers for it, and I wanted to share these amazing sketches from the team. Nothing is final yet, just some ideas we’ve been tossing about:
Pretty cool-looking stuff. More details soon. Maybe we’ll even do a process post on the cover creation. What do you think?
Okay, I can already hear you begging me to get to the reason why you even read this far down. You have questions! I got answers! Let’s get to them.
And don’t forget, paid subscribers can leave their own questions below about just about anything…even things beyond the realm of 3Q3A.
Or you can send an email to info@3worlds3moons.com.
NOTE: I’m especially anxious to share with you my rankings of
Jell-O Instant pudding flavors, so someone, please ask!)
Let’s go!
Q1
Wilson G. submits:
Will Civil & Culture section include essays like the ones we saw for Religion, Magic, and Economics?
A1
Yes.
Q2
Bernardo Teles read our convention appearance update and sends in:
Hi, I hope the event will be very cool. Is it possible for Founders outside the US to receive part of the things that the attendees will receive and have information about those sketches? I would love to attend, and I understand if these things aren't possible, but it would be cool because it would make us part of these really cool events. Thanks, and I hope everyone enjoys the return of live events!
A2
That’s not a bad idea. However, we are a bit early on to figure out how to handle this. Right now the plan is for the offerings to be there for our Founders who can attend the shows.
What we are looking into immediately is adding some appearances, so we get a chance to see even more of you beautiful people! I really hope all of you can join us.
But we will continue to take this into consideration. Thanks for bringing it up.
Q3
Darwin’s Brain slammed their hands onto a keyboard, and this came out:
Can we see more behind the scene documents like the bookmap?
A3
Sure. Next week I can look into sharing with you my highly-revised tracking document for all the moving parts and assignments of the [SOURCEBOOK] …filled with HEAVY redactions.
So if you like Excel documents in landscape mode, set your alarm for 7 days from now! I mean, what other Substack newsletter is bringing you exciting content like that! I’d like to see Tom King just TRY and top that!
Bits of business:
-Substack Link-of-the-Week:
The first 30 Pages of SPECTATORS was just released!
The team behind the still brilliant PRIDE OF BAGHDAD (Brian K. Vaughan and Niko Henrichon) has been creating their new graphic novel over on their Substack. Go check it out, it’s entirely free to read. Do NOT tell them I sent you!
(Actually, DO tell them I sent you and then snap a picture of their face right as they wonder aloud, “Who the hell is Stephen Wacker, and why is some rando bringing him up? This is harassment.”
I’ll run the best pictures here!)
-Baseball team of the Week:
The St. Louis Cardinals (the Official baseball team of 3W/3M).
The entire 3W3M team sends sincere Congrats to them for signing young, up-and-coming superstar Albert Pujols! All of us here can’t wait to see him blossom into something special!
And Albert, in case you’re reading: if you ever feel like trying your hand at some graphic literature set in an all-new, design-focused science fiction setting that still pulses with the blood rush of raw humanity, we hope you’ll write something for us!
(By the way, I’m pretty sure no one here but me understood a word of that paragraph. Hickman’s a soccer nerd (my hand on a Bible he was watching World Cup Qualifiers today..Zzzzz), del Mundo is Canadian, and Huddleston never leaves his studio, far as I’ve seen. So basically, I get to make the baseball decisions!)
-Impulse Buy of the Week:
The new Godfather high-def editions are 100% as good as advertised. They are gorgeously detailed, and I saw things in the movies I’d never seen before.
I mean, did you know there was a Stan Lee cameo in the restaurant where Michael kills Sollozzo? Thanks to digital restoration advances, now you do!
All right, 3W/3mers! Let’s cut it here. Make sure and send your questions below. You could see your name typed here! (Well, cut-and-pasted, if I’m being honest)
We will be back in your app feeds and inboxes tomorrow with an all-new [CULTURE] story by Kristian Donaldson.
You won’t believe what it takes for any woman who takes on… THE JOB.
Viva Pujols,
Steve

Who do I talk to about getting a refund?
Gonna slam my keyboard in solidarity w/ Darwin's brain and ask: can we see the scripts behind the comics? Getting them on here would be more than cool enough, but it'd be amazing if they came in the back of physical releases like the ashcan á la House of X #1 director's cut (minus the redactions)
